PFSC Contract Ice Rules
Checking In:
You MUST check in with the ice monitor. If he/she is not at the door,
please skate over to the music box and check in. If the ice monitor is not
there, check in when the ice monitor arrives or check in on the correct binder
page that is on the boards by the music box. If you plan to practice with your
music (CD or tape),
provide it to the ice monitor at check in otherwise you may miss your turn.
Conflicts with Competitions:
If you are skating in a competition, show, exhibition or other approved skating
activity and you are unable to keep your regular contract ice commitment as a
result, you may skate on a different contract any time during the week before or
the week after the conflict. In order to be able to take advantage of this, you
must notify the ice monitor IN ADVANCE of the session you are going to miss so
that it may be sold as buy on ice. Also the session you switch to must have
space available.
Buying on:
Buy ons will be allowed on a first come, first served basis. Club members may
sign up (in the monitor book) to buy on up to one week in advance if space is
available. However, you must check in and pay prior to the beginning of the
session or risk losing your ice. You must pay before you skate. The rates for
the sessions. can be found in the PFSC Ice Monitor’s Book. If you subsequently
purchase an ice contract, credit will be given for only one session of buy on
ice.
Where to do what:
- Practice spins in the center ice area (except
during a program).
- Practice jumps at either end of the ice (except
during a program).
- You must have a coach supervise the use of any
harness.
- If you are not actively skating, you must leave
the ice or be physically touching the boards.
- If you a practicing a program that requires
props, please check with the ice monitor first. Then have another skater stay
with the prop and remove it from the ice as soon as possible.
Music
• Play music in the Proper Order. Skaters should place their music
in order of check in along the boards near the tape player and play their music
in order, respecting the line up and be fair about allowing the remaining
skaters to get their music played before getting your tape played a second time
• Coaches may "bump" music so that a skater
taking a lesson can have his or her tape played next. This counts as that
skater's turn during that order. Similarly a skater's coach may have that
skater's second time tape be played during the first round of music.
Right of way:
Skaters skating their program will wear a sash to have the
right of way. If you want the right of way, put on the sash before you begin
your program. There will be more than one sash so you can put it on as another
skater is finishing.
Right of way rules in order of priority:
• Skaters wearing the sash have the right of way.
• Skaters setting up for a jump or spin have the right of way.
• Skaters on the harness have the right of way.
Ice Levels and Group Skating:
The PFSC Board has been asked by skaters to specify that certain ice contracts
be reserved for specific skating levels. There will be no exceptions to this
policy. Certain contracts are not available for group practices such as team
compulsory, couples or show performances. Ice dancing is also prohibited from
certain sessions.
Professionals Policy:
Professionals who are not "Parade Pros" may teach on PFSC ice only if they are
teaching PFSC members. These professionals must have proof of insurance on file
in the ice monitor book. Professionals are allowed on the ice at no charge only
when they are giving lessons; professionals may not practice their own skating
on PFSC contract ice for free.
